Jan 22

It feels like just the other day, and at the same time, oh-so-long ago that it was Jan 1.  Everyone was filled with promise and passion; 2009 was going to be THEIR year - resolutions were going to last, weight was jsut going to melt off their bodies, and cigarettes would put themselves out.  People were committed.  So, how are we doing with that?  How many resolutions are you still on track with?  How many people do you know who have already fallen off the bandwagon?

Here's the problem, as I see it;  Too many people look at New Year's Resolutions as a tightrope - it's impressive at first, very few people can actually do it and, once you fall off, you're done.  It's incredible how many people miss one gym session or have one cigarette, and beat themselves up until they feel miserable about it.

We've talked about it before, but there is an incredible value in acknowledging and pursuing 1% gains.

Be proud of your progress!  No one becomes perfect overnight -every accomplishment takes time, effort and a considerable number of setbacks along the way.  A New Year's Resolution is just that -a resolution for the year, not for the first two weeks of January.  So work through the dips, believe and celebrate the 1% gains, and run to catch up with the wagon.  This year's just getting started; plenty of time to make it your best one yet.
