In a past life, during a five year stint with a direct sales company, I met an individual named Jon Berghoff who had chosen to dedicate one year of his life to reading and learning from fifty books; nearly one per week for a full year. Jon's theory was that if he could gain just one thought from one book per week – one thought that would allow him to make one attitudinal change, large or small - over the course of a year he could completely reinvent the way in which he impacted the world. It was a profound thought, and one that has stayed with me for years.
Ultimately though, the key motivator behind the advent of The Goose was Frustration. Frustration at watching friends and family wrestle with challenges of time management, finding enjoyment in the workplace, being overwhelmed by the age old question of "What am I truly meant to do with my life?", and so on. Not frustration at the obstacles, but rather that the solutions, or at least suggestions, were readily available in the books I had already read and gained so much from. Frustration compounded by the fact that even when these books were suggested, even when they were given to those loved ones, the individuals still complained of lack of time to actually read and learn from their pages. And so I started summarizing. I started compiling a brief synopsis of the book I felt could impact that individual the greatest, and then going into detail on the single element of the book that most benefit them. It worked for them and it will work for you.
And so, with the help of a phenomenal team of dedicated individuals, I give you the culmination of the two thoughts; give an individual the tools and the resources to change their lives and they obtain the power to change the world.
As for the name, spend a few minutes watching a flock of geese in flight and you'll understand. One goose flies at the front of the V, fighting wind resistence and putting in the effort so that the flock can fly further and achieve more than any of them could on their own. For the time being at least, we are happy and honored to be that lead Goose. Down the road perhaps you'll move to the front of the pack and allow us to accomplish more than we ever imagined possible. That's our dream really - not to lead forever, but to be a part of the pack of like-minded individuals who use their own well honed lives to achieve success and, in doing so, change the world in ways that will echo down through generations to come. It's a pleasure and an honor to share your company on that flight.
